Mosley vs Cotto Was A Awesome Fight!

I just rewatched it and man was that a great fight. It was pure action and skill and the highest level. What fight won for "Fight Of The Year" last year because I cant believe that it was better then this one. Izzy & Raffy are very good fighters but there clearly a skill level below these 2 so I dont think fights like that should automatically win the award just because they go toe to toe, use no defense, and get hit alot. Id much rather take the Cotto-Mosley fight over that.

If Mosley looks good against Mayorga then I definatly wouldnt mind seeing a rematch wether Cotto wins or loses against Margarito. I know some Cotto fans wont agree but I think its safe to say that a prime Mosley wouldve gave Cotto hell and would probably clearly win the fight. Some may ask how is that different then what people say about a prime Oscar vs Floyd. I think its different due to the size factor. The fight was at 154 where Floyd was outweighed by nearly 20 pounds when I dont think he even belongs at WW. In this fight Mosley was the one moving down but Cotto was clearly the much bigger & stronger man. He's huge.

I think both guys showed very well and I dont know if Ive ever seen someone improve more from fight to fight like Cotto has. You certainly have to give him credit for that. I do think that a rematch would be scored a little different though. I know Im in the minority but I do feel that in alot of matches there are fans, media, and judges who are kind of looking to give a guy points or to see him do well even if its unintentional. I always felt that people were scoring the Floyd-Chavez fight closely just because they were shocked by anything Chavez did so they dont judge it fairly. In the Castillo fight it seems like people are looking to see the big gun go down so if he has any problem in a round then in there mind its like he lost it. I think it will be thed same way if Floyd ever fought Cotto. Any close rounds will go to Cotto since Floyd is the big gun and hated while Cotto is the new star that everyone wants to do well and win the fight.

In this fight I kind of feel that it was a pickem fight but Cotto is the guy who the people favor and want to do well. Its way more exciting when they see him fight guys like Zab & Mosley then when other guys fight them so I think that if a round's close then they will always give it to Cotto over Mosley. If they fight again though then I think the close rounds will go to Mosley because now Cotto is the stallion in his prime and Mosley is looked at like this older guy who shouldnt be able to compete with him so when he does something it will look more shocking.

      It wasn't all that, imo.

I didn't feel the tension because it seemed like neither guy could really put a dent in the other one.

Yeah but have you rewatched it? I also felt that it wasnt all that at the time but when I just rewatched it, the fight seemed great. Go rewatch it again.

When I rewatch a fight that didn't initially have me super excited, it's usually worse the 2nd time around.

When you say they didnt dent eachother then I guess you mean by hurt which they never really were but both guys landed a mad amount of power shots that wouldve pretty much stopped 95% of the guys out there

As a man I even have to admit that I took some credit away from Cotto in that fight because I just thought Shane looked old and get hit by shots he never wouldve got hit with but I was wrong. Cotto was just a great boxer and Mosley was the same ole Mosley. He's clearly not in his prime but he was the same guy that kicked Vargas & Collazo's butt.

It was great to me because Ive never ever seen anyone hit Cotto with the shots that Mosley was hitting him with. He was throwing lazers and cracking Cotto. You could tell that Cotto realized that he was definatly fighting the best guy he ever had because he was on his A game but still getting blasted with good shots which he took pretty well. I also have never seen Mosley get blasted like he was. Cotto was so big/powerful and landing some crushing shots while also showing plenty of good boxing skill. It was just a great performance by 2 guys who I think wouldve killed alot of other fighters on that night. Great fight no doubt
