Mayweather-Hatton was about $$$ and generated a massive amount of buzz both within and outside the sport.
And before the benefit of hindsight there were a number of people who believed Hatton would make it highly competetive. Floyd just outclassed him.
If Cotto keeps winning --- Floyd will fight him and beat him.
