that the real reason why Floyd decided to retire is because of his hands. They are saying that his hands are very bad now and require surgery, and that Floyd is scared of the surgery. The doctors told him that if you don't have the surgery, you're going to have to take some time off like a year. This was told to me by my boy who works out with one of Floyd's ex-sparring partners. He said that Floyd's hands are very brittle, and were in bad shape after the Hatton fight.
There is a serious rumor going around...

He's had bad hands for a decade and I have always worried about him losing a fight over a broken hand. I don't want to see anybody lose because of something they did to themselves. It's different if a guy hurts you, but if you break your hand and can't go, that's no way to get your first loss. I'm kind of relieved he retired without losing a bs fight over something like that. -
The sparring partner also told my boy that Floyd also does not want the surgery yet because he does not want to be told that it's best to retire hinting that he still wants to fight.Comment

I wish he would have kicked Cotto's ass already so we could see him attempt to go up to middleweight, but it's looking like it won't happen. He'll probably destroy Cotto or Oscar and then leave for good.Comment

That's gotta be tough fighting a guy who wants to take your head off with basically one hand and throwing the other damaged hand to keep them off balance and to keep them from loading up and figuring it out.Comment

that rumor's been around since he announced his retirement.
floyd wouldn't retire before a $20 million dollar payday.
he had to pull out of the fight because of his hands. out of all the rumors and reasons this is the one i give the most credence to.Comment

dominating a fight is basically destroying someone. you can't expect him to knock out naturally bigger men when he's never been a big hitter to begin withComment
