Ok, Collazo deserves the shot because he just came off the huge win over 9-4 Barros? He's fighting Forbes because GBP and HBO just pumped millions of dollars into Forbes vs. DLH and he is currently the biggest name open for a fight. Berto wants a name fighter, who is Collazo?

Judah/Clottey are busy, but he'll probably fight the winner to unify, and then the winner or loser of Cotto/Marg depending on if Mayweather makes a mysterious comeback or something weird.

He got his wbc belt, give him time.

He's not a big dog.. he should be looking for the big fights, the big fights shouldn't be looking for him.

Cotto said he wants to unify anyway so you better believe Berto is on his list.

Berto now has the title, the same one Floyd had. He can't call out the other champions because the winner of Saturday's fight won't be available for months, and the same with the winner of Clottey-Judah. And nobody will make a move until Oscar picks his final opponent. Paul Williams has the same manager as Berto, and there is every indication that Williams has no future at 147 anyway. So all that is left for Berto is challengers. And the role of challengers is to challenge the champion. Collazo is the only challenger to call him out and his credentials are satisfactory, but not compelling.

Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito are not challengers... They are champions.

I'll be interested to see what happens with Berto. At the moment it is as though he is seen as a challenger while actually being a champion. is he going to be immediately pitched into the top level welterweight picture or will he have to go through guys like Collazo, Cintron and Quintana first?

My money is on the latter because I suspect Cotto, Williams and maybe Margarito would be too good for him right now.

Forbes might be a better fighter but I think Collazo is clearly the better WW. Collazo did very well against Hatton and was competitive every round against Mosley (even if he lost every round). I dont think Forbes would've been as competitive at 147lbs against Mosley as Collazo was.
