i think Mayweather is waiting for the division to clear out some. He sees that in a few years there will most likely be a #1 P4P fighter between anyone from 140-160. In a few years there will be a superfight is May returns and fights whoever that guy is at the time (Berto? Cotto? Margarito? Williams?). There's too much risk to try and clear the division out now, not that he's scared to, but you're putting tens of millions of dollars at risk. By retiring he can let the division clear it self out then beat up the champion left standing and make 50 million

There is nothing to slander though. He retired without facing the best in the welterweight division all while claiming to be the best ever. There is nothing you can say to negate that fact.
