From the Mexican point of view, they should demand Oscar to fight Margarito before he retires in CIUDAD MEJICO. BUT OSCAR IS SCARED OF MARGARITO, ALWAYS HAD BEEN. If he wants to retire and go out with a "BIG BOOM!!!" That's the fight he needs to concrete.

he is at the level where jmm was a few years ago. boxing fans know him but not the average person. he is still in the shadow of the top mexican fighters and popular guys like chavez jr. and arce but i believe this fight will be his coming out party.

^^^^ TRUE.... here in puerto rico hes very known.... almost everyone here knows who is he.... theres one sure thing about him... ppl havent give him all the credit he deserve...

To answer your question margarito is very well known to mexican boxing fans. Every one of my family members know who he is and have known of him for years. The only people that dont know him is the mainstream fans. But rest assured he is loved in mexico and known he just hasn't had the opportunity to get a big name in the ring with him to raise his star status. He has that chance now and I hope he comes out victorious.

But it's not sad! Jr is just as popular as a barrera, morales, a paquiao in the phillipines. There's nothing sad about jr being more popular his dad is julio cesar chavez! Jr has been in the spotlight since he was a kid! People have been longing to watch him grow up and be a fighter.

It's sad because as a fighter he simply doesn't deserve it. He might be a great kid, maybe not, but he hasn't done anything that warrants being in the same sentence as everyone you mentioned.
