The majority of brain damage caused by making weight and not by punches??

My cousin told me that he was talking to a trainer and the trainer told him that the majority of damage that a fighter takes when it comes to brain damage and stuff is from dehydration and not from the actual fight itself.. is this true???

So I guess this is true.. and it only makes matters worst when you are drained and taking punches.

If that were true, then no heavyweights would get brain damaged.

I said the majority not all
Dehydration kills more brain cells then getting hit in the face operantly.

There is definitely some validity to that. However without the punches there won't be brain damage. It doesn't work the other way.

not quite true Scott, dehydration is a killer in its own right and that coupled with punches to the head can lead to an increased risk of brain damage, just like coupled with body shots can lead to an increased risk of kidney failure.
