My Thoughts On Cotto-Margarito.. Plus Looking For A Bet.

There's too many threads about this scattered and with crazy posts so I just made another thread.. I got Cotto to beat Margarito by either late round stoppage or unanimous decision. Cotto will be attacking Margarito from all angles with constant punches, Margarito only throws punches he isn't too smart, he knows how to punch good but he isn't really technical, he is a brawler who can mix it up effectively but doesn't possess the Boxing skills that Cotto has, the ability to change the tide of the fight and dominate the pace, Cotto can do that. I can see Cotto outsmarting Margarito and using his jab fiercely.

Margarito's chance is the punchers chance, if he can catch, hurt and finish Cotto then he wins but any other way he wont win. not everybody is going to scare at the sight of punches or lose confidence. if Kermit had the heart of a Miguel Cotto he could have beaten Margarito, he just gave it up because as in the first fight he was landing bombs. Cotto is devastating, I can see him just over time wearing Margarito down and eventually TKO'ing him. Tony's only chance is really by KO/TKO and I think Cotto has proven he does well under that kind of pressure, even when hurt he comes back to win and I don't think he's just going to fold anyway. I see this fight being stopped, I see it bloody and brutal but I see Cotto just landing too many bombs in places Tony never felt, he's gonna have a constant succession with his punches that will just overall take a toll.

Much respect to Margarito, I think he's a good fighter and I respect his fight game but I just don't see Cotto losing to him, I try to picture it but I can't see it happening, Cotto is too strong right now and with the way he can break you down I just ca't see him losing. Tony has trouble with speed, Cotto is VERY fast with his combinations and he is overall the best Welterweight Boxer today, he is more versatile and can just **** at any angle, it's gonna be good but Tony gonna lose.. with that being said I got all my points on Cotto to beat Margarito, whoever can match the bet and wants to make it official PM me or reply. 100

The only thing people are basing a Margarito win off is Cotto's chin. They don't mention how he can maintain his speed, how he's going to handle Cotto's movements, counter punching, his jab, nothing. Cotto's chin is fine and for the most part...we all know that whether his fans wanna admit it or not.

The general consensus is Margarito will be too big & too strong. But what do they think Cotto is? A lot of them won't admit it, but they know Margarito is in for a hell of a night.

I got Cotto by late stoppage too.

I pretty much agree with everything you said about both fighters. Yes, if the fight goes the distance this will favor Cotto. The only way I see Margarito winning this fight is by TKO'ing Cotto. Is this realistically possible, IMO yes. One bomb well placed can hurt Cotto enough for Margarito to take advantage of this. But I do see the fight favoring Cotto, say 60/40 for Cotto. I do not see Cotto knocking out Margarito, going the distance yes, no KO. With that being said, I gotta go with my boy Margarito the underdog. I am putting my money where my mouth is...3-1 odds with Margarito's punching is enough for me.

Thanks brother.. thanks for the opinions too y'all. Cotto got this IMO, I just think his velocity and accuracy combined will be too much for Margarito. Cintron, as tall and powerful as he is, isn't half the Boxer Cotto is and it will show, you can't just walk Cotto down and I think when Margarito tries he's going to pay big time, he's going to be hit from angles he can't anticipate and he will really be tested, so will Cotto but I think Cotto can do well, he'll take it and dish it as well, Cotto is a monster and this is the perfect fight for him, a tal rangy dude who comes straight forward and ****s away. Cotto will box in angles and make himself hard to hit, they'll exchange but in the end I just see the more vital and effective punches landing by Cotto.
