The #8 p4p fighter in the world Cristian Mijares (35-3-2 [14]) takes on former WBC flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul (64-3 [39]) in Mexico on August 30th. Sasakul, 38, had beaten 23-0 Yuri Arbachalov to capture the flyweight world title in 1997 only to lose it in his thrid defense against future #1 pound for pound Manny Pacquiao. Mijares is rumored to fight WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel later this year with popular mexican Jorge Arce versus IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire on the undercard.

Should be a good tune up fight. Sasakul is pretty damn old so Mijares should make good work of him.
    lol wtf?
Mijares should not be fighting that as a tune up fight that is a joke fight
Mijares is a champ he should fight someone who is more credible and live.

what happen to Kawashima? His wife was really pissed when he lost to Mijares the first time and told him that he should KO him the second time

but it came opposite I think she doesnt have sex with him til this day
        lol, that was unexpected

Not enough top boxers take "stay active" fights, used to be the norm.

          what about Pacquiao?

and his stay active fights are high caliber and dangerous compared to mijares.

in fact mijares is fighting a guy who pacman destroyed with little experience when saskul was conisdered the best at 112.

the guy should not even be sanctioned to fight at his age its a shame this is a mismatch the guy is no bernard hopkins.

Darchinyan vs Mijares will be interesting. It'll be interesting because Navarro was competitive with Mijares (nowhere close to beating him), but he was a southpaw. Darchinyan is much more wild then Navarro is though and will probably get a beatdown similar to Arce.

I don't think he'll knock him out though. Mijares would really need to land that good counter (then again he did it on Kawashima and Kawashima has an iron chin)

Pacquiao always has power and even the Pinoys will tell you Pacquiao was dieting to make weight and didn't he lose his title in his next fight by ko?

Pacquiao fought the lesser Champion and he gets heat cause it was on ppv and yeah, its good for him to stay active. Nothing better then to stay active to keep you skills sharp.

Fighters who don't fight as often usally throw less punchs then they did when they were active. Thats something i've noticed with some boxers.

soo at 112 he beaten many good fighters too.

the problem most people dont know the contender of 112

He beaten Munzo and got two titles and he is going to face Montiel someday.

this is boxing not a street brawl you have paperworks, managers, promopters...etc to make the fight happen

He lost to Alexander Munoz in January. Kawashima was/is good too man.

Also Domain, Mijares has had two tough back to back fights in a row. Munoz and Navarro. Pacquiao gets tune ups. What are you talking about? Solis? Jorge Julio? Etc.

Should Mijares win, co-promoter DiBella told ESPN.com that he's talking with Showtime about matching Mijares in a unification match with the winner of the Aug. 2 Showtime fight between titleholder Dimitri Kirilov and Vic Darchinyan. DiBella said he's also talked to Kirilov promoter Cedric Kushner and Darchinyan promoter Shaw about the fight and everyone is interested in the scenario. If the fight is made, it could happen Nov. 1 on Showtime, DiBella said. He's also been talking with promoter Bob Arum about matching Mijares with Fernando Montiel in a unification bout, but he and Arum agree that it's too big of a fight not to be a main event on a major show and there are no dates left this year on Showtime or HBO. "Mijares wants to unify the division, so we can do the Kirilov-Darchinyan winner and then go for Montiel in the next fight when there are more dates available," DiBella said.

From DR. Guess it was reported.
good to see theyre interested in montiel vs mijares
montiel accused mijares of ducking him and proclaimed himself the best superflyweight in the world
lets hope arum hurries cuz montiel plans on moving up in weight soon and ive seen mijares struggling with weight also

well if he faces the winner of the darchinyan vs kirilov fight, (which should be vic) he will pick up the IBF belt without too much difficulty.....i like vic but mijares is too skilled and quick for vic and such a master in the ring i dont see him getting beat anytime soon
