Anton, the Linares fight in your sig was on ppv with Valero being the main event, and I saw it live on ppv. Those right hands Linares scored the knockdowns and knockout were superb. Valero stopped Zaid Zavaleto or whatever his name was with body shots. So when I see guys talk about Valero, and what he lacks, all I can do is laugh. He spit out his mouth piece after the fight, and kicks it like a soccer ball into the crowd lol. Valero is a very engaging guy and said he would love to fight Pac or any top fighter. Ant, check this out. You can tell that this guy didn't watch the fight. This fight report is totally false information:

Valero, as he always does, came out aggressive and on the attack. Although he claims to train for twelve round bouts, one would never guess it if they watched him fight. To me, he wants to end the fight as quickly as possible. He was throwing punches from every angle, landing on the head and body of Zaid Zavaleta. Zaid, tried to counter Edwin’s attack by throwing and landing several hard shots to the jaw of Valero, but nothing slowed the Champion down. As the ten-second warning was given, Valero landed a solid left that sent Zavaleta down. He was up at eight, was allowed to continue and the bell sounded to end the first round.

During the second round, Valero continued to batter Zavaleta by unleashing a relentless attack, throwing punches in bunches and landing most. As game and as tough as Zaid is, it was not enough to slow down Valero.
The third round began as the second closed, with Valero thoroughly beating up Zavaleta. Just as Zaid began to mount somewhat of an attack of his own, Edwin Valero landed a devastating right hand that basically put Zavaleta out on his feet. As he was frozen standing upright, Valero unleashed a barrage of punches that sent Zaid down and out.

Zavaleto was bent over from body shots, and never went down at the finish of the fight. The ref saw Zaid was hurt, and had the wind taken out of him, and stopped the fight. Comical. They didn't even mention how Zaid came out in one round trying to butt Valero. Incredible.

What isn't beside the point is that the De La Hoya fight was Floyd's stated goal for years.
But you people act like he only fought Oscar to avoid something more dangerous.
Like fighting 2 classes above your optimum weight and giving up significant size and strength advantages to a live, legendary champ isn't dangerous.

Floyd's journey through the divisions was with one summit in mind.
The date with big time destiny against Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather and Cotto are in completely different phases of their careers.
Cotto is still in the phase where he have to fight every 4 or 5 months.
Floyd has made major accomplishments in the sport, across 12 years and 5 weight classes.
What was done in darkness came to light, and he no longer have to get out of bed for less than $20 million.

When Cotto does something to prove fighting him represents enough $$$ to make it worth Floyd getting out of bed for, Mayweather will fight him.
          And beat him.

          I would bet on it.

          Meanwhile.
Cotto's resume @ welter really isn't that much more sparkling than Mayweather's.
          If at all.

Margarito will be the first time Cotto has taken on a formidable opponent who is bigger and stronger than himself.

Floyd has been there and done that on a number of occasions.

It's time you bottomfeeding ****s paid some due respect to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

And Kelly is a highly rated p4p guy, MW champ, who is NOT fighting the best guys in his division.

You are a prime example of the double standard. And the motives are transparent.
Good post, and I am in total agreement. You have to be blind not to see the double standard. Pac's comp is accepted because he beat used up ring worn fighters, and is now taking on lesser men when Guzman and Valero have been looking for Pac for a while now. Abraham and kessler said Pav's name, and PAv is challenging Cal and asking for a catch weight, and is now fighting 43 year old Hop and then 36-37 year old Cal after that. Arum is the scum of the earth. Good post.

                Souljah,

                You are an *******.

Don't you know that when Floyd was at 130 and was calling out Oscar, that was really his proactive way of ducking Cotto? Get your head out your ass!!

Floyd's supports make approximately ¼ as many Mayweather threads as Floyd's detractors make.

                      @ best.
