  • Is Roy willing to take the Risk necessary to beat Calzaghe ?

I am so afraid we are going to see another Hopkinds/Calz meaning Roy will have his moments but will generally not take enough risk to stop Joe getting a comfortable UD

To Win, Roy needs to take chances. He has to be agressive otherwise he will be cannon fodder

Roy can still produce his absolute best but only in tiny spurts

Bet against it. But there's enough possibility to make me nervous.

I was never worried that Hopkins could beat Joe; Hopkins never wanted to engage anyone capable of fighting back. But I will watch this fight with a slight anxiety.

Roy was finished 3-4 years ago.
          End of thread.
He hasn't faced or beaten anyone top ten at 160 , 168 or 175.
His token wins once a year over no names and a tired blown up welter in Tito prove he has no heart.
Otherwise he would have been fighting real contenders and regained a belt by now.
Calzaghe offers a final retirement payday.
          That is the truth.
Just like Tyson...he always will have the blind fanboys.
Father time can never be beaten kids.
          Accept that lesson.

someonementioned before that joe doesn't have have power to hurt RJJ and hes right even with RJJ's chin joe doesn't have that same power he used to. however that being said he is in his last fight and if he feels his hands are strong (remeber theybe been fine these last fw yrs) then who knows?

more than anything im looking forward to this fight to see hw joe adapt his style and will RJJ have that same magic back in his step - he looked good in the build up to the trinidad fight, plus im wondering if he will fight off the ropes like he normally does. eithe way cant wait should be an awesome fight.

RJJ has better hand speed than Hopkins, and IMO is on par with Calzaghe in that dept. I'd favor JC in this fight, but dont count Roy out. I'm gonna be pulling for an RJ upset...

No, doubt though had JC had the balls to come to the US back when he was calling RJJ out in his prime he would have got KTFO. Funny how NOW he is willing to come over, and fight Hopkins and RJJ when they are both old as **** and past their primes.

Funny how they will fight him now he is a name for their retirement fund.
Both Hopkins ands Jones would have struggled with a prime Calzaghe when he didn't have fists of talcum powder.
No matter what you believe the avoidance was on both parts.

What ****in risks are there? Taking a slap? **** Joe, Roy will BOX him. It will be boring with Roy backing up like Hopkins. The only thing is, Roy has faster hands and will throw flurries inside and catches Joe more than Hopkins. I say Joe goes down three times in 12 rounds and Roy wins by EASY UD. Like 9-3 with the 3 KD's. If Hopkons put him down, Roy will. And Cals throws slaps out of no where and doesnt pin point his shots. he just throws them wildly. Roy catches him while Joe does this, and Roy wins.

wow, we have Joe Calzaghe's bag boy in the house.... hey good on...

Now about the fight. Now that its 2008 and Jones is old it will be good and fair for Joe. Both are on the same level now yet Jones will still have the advantage in Speed. Question is can he do it for 12 rounds, if not Joe will win like always by a sad Split or UD....

                    nothing more nothing less.....
