Cotto will win. I spent some time watching Margarito's best and Cotto's well, what i could find because he's allot harder to find than Margarito's.
First fight i saw was Margarito vs Lujan. I thought immediately "This guy resembles Cotto allot, Margarito has no chance in hell" Margarito looked horrible in that fight despite the TKO win. It was frustrating seeing Margarito hurting Lujan and not being able to capitalize on it because he was too slow.
Then i saw the first Cintron fight. I thought, "Well Margarito looks allot better, despite the flawed technique and the occasional square he forms when he gets his feet parallel but he still has no chance against someone like Cotto. Note Cintron does not move his head period and only knows back and forward, doesn't slip punches well enough nor does he fully extends the jab. Cotto UD". Finally i saw Cotto vs Torres and based on that fight i could see Margarito having a remote chance. It turned out Cotto can be hurt by an uppercut and also opens up allot when he sits his punches.
But i still favor Cotto UD based on the fact a much faster Torres couldn't finish Cotto and it's pretty safe to say neither will Margarito provided he can hurt Cotto. Added Cotto's recovery rate, one of the fastest i've seen i say two scenarios: Cotto UD, Cotto TKO.

I just don't see Cotto stopping Margarito. Tony is too big and has a good beard. Tony will be on the attack and get countered frequently though. Cotto would have to put together some sort of an onslaught to get Marg out.

This is Cotto's fight to lose. Tony is a slow starter and I see Cotto racking up a lot of the early rounds like Williams did. It's when Tony starts to turn it on will there be enough time and will Cotto be too fast to stay away from it.

Still it's a Cotto UD or a Margarito KO. But I say Cotto by decision.

honestly,i hate when people try and discredit fighters,you see alot of fools on here hanging around hating and then complain when they're fighter gets hated on.margo is not a bum,but cotto is [whether they like to believe it or not]a special fighter.bottom line is,this will be a tito vs mayorga type fight with a ud for cotto.plain and simple.a guy with superior technique beating a guy who isn't as good but was tough enough to get to where he is.cotto will show different aspects of his game.box and exchange when he wants too.then the haters who don't aprreciate the art of boxing unless its oscar or solis.YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.will i be surprised if margo has his moments?no.he's a born fighter,but that's where his plans hit a snag,this is BOXING and cotto is a bred boxer.

A factor i didn't consider: "Margarito will be pressing the fight." I've never seen Cotto fighting backwards, i hope he knows how to do so if he's not the strongest man in the ring that night. But even if he can't he can move very well when he's hurt. Incredible vs Torres Cotto was out standing but kept trading punches! and moving sideways... The problem is the only times i've seen Cotto being defensive were when he was hurt.

I've seen a few Cotto fights where he's fighting backwards. I think the whole Abdulaev fight was Cotto on his heels. The main thing that has me concerned is the fact that Cotto like to fight at a measured pace, If he let's Margarito dictate a fast pace it might be a long night for Cotto.

And he sits AND waits on his punches a bit too leaving himself open... Could be a problem but Margarito won't tag him at slow mo speed. I haven't seen the Abdulaev fight (just the amateur one) but that's very interesting. Cotto is more complete each day.

Cotto - Ceballos is another fight where he fought going on his heels. That's all I could think of off the top of my head. I would have skimmed through my Cotto collection but I lost about 50-60GB of fights last night for not backing up.

I see Cotto winning by UD. If it is KO, its accumulation of punches, not 1 punch KO.
