The only PPV that's been announced that I'm going to purchase is the Cotto-Margarito fight. I wouldn't miss this fight since it's the two best WWs going at it and it promises fireworks. My prediction: 280K buys.
Casa and Marquez: this is going to be slow. Not only are they old, but both have styles that are not fan-friendly. They are on PPV merely due to their names, not how good the fight will be. My prediction: 170K buys.
Roy Jones and Calzaghe: again with the senior tour here. Calzaghe might not be that old yet, but with Roy dancing around trying to avoid Joe, it's hard for me to see this pleasing the fans (unless you're a fan of defensive boxing). Roy's name will carry it in the US and Joe will carry it in the UK. My prediction: 450K buys worldwide but only about 275K in the US.
Mayorga and Mosley: this is a bit more like it, but we continue with the Senior Tour here. Both are past their primes, even if Mosley did look good against Cotto in his last outing. Mayorga is fast on the decline, tho, and after the beating he took from Trinidad and DLH, I doubt he has much left in the tank. Two good names might convince some casual fans to make the jump and buy this fight. My prediction: 300K buys, just a bit more than the Jones-Calzaghe fight does in the US.
BTW, Showtime is having the Campbell-Guzman and Tarver-Dawson fights for free in competing televised cards. There is no reason not to watch the free boxing one week and the PPV re-airs the next.
