But no, it ends up being dull as **** and being the typical that the non real boxing fans think of about boxing. A lot of moving around, hit and hold, not enough big punches landing. How the hell you gonna hype up what shoulda been a huge fight to bring back life into boxing with Oscar involved, and then run it out like that. I think we lost whatever few that still watched it over MMA after they saw that waste of 50 bucks.
    Still on Mayweather's **** I see, I guess Pacman's isn't enough for you.

no he did not kill boxing. he helped it a little bit. boxing needs a proper lineal charismatic and loud heavyweight champion.

he didn't kill boxing because other than him there are boxers who are fighting their ass off and giving the fans a good fight. the thing mayweather did was give boxing a bad image. he's a disgrace.

I dont think Floyd (or floyd v. oscar) ruined boxing.

Many of the most hyped fights dont deliever...why is that? because there honestly is no way to tell whats going to be a blockbuster and whats going to be boring.

There are many fights that arent hyped huge (or dont get much hype at all) but still deliever quality fights...some even become the greatest moments in the history of the sport:

              for example...

diego corrales v. jose luis castillo I this fight was just on REGULAR SHO and wasnt supposed to be big huge $50 MEGA FIGHT...but that 10th round not only MADE the second fight a blockbuster but also went down as one of if not (argueably) THEE greatest round in this history of boxing...

so the rematch gets pumped up huge and ends up on PPV because of the results of the first fight but guess what? the rematch doesnt deliever as it only lasts 4 rounds with castillo leading the way for the most part...

then you look at mayorga v. vargas and/or tito trinidad v. roy jones...those two fights many didnt want to purchase because they would be a "waste of money"...well they werent exactly BLOCKBUSTERS but they were very good fights...

or think katsidis v. casamayor...only the hardcore fans hyped this fight...it delieverd but the casual fans had no idea...

think of taylor v. pavlik I...this was on regular HBO and the casual fans knew nothing about it and guess what..it delievered...the rematch was good but not as good as the first and it was hyped and on PPV...

its hit and miss to be honest...you cant predict how exciting a fight will or will not be.

What has ruined boxing is pay tv (SHO; HBO; etc.) and PPV's ($30-$55) for a fight is ridiculous...thats why boxing is in this current state...because they are trying to rob the fans for all they have to it turns off the casual fans (except for big fights they usually will purchase one to three times a year at best) and doesnt give potential NEW fans the chance to see good fights (because they are on pay TV)...

i got into boxing on a fluke because i had HBO (but never watched/liked boxing very much) so one night it was on and there was nothing better on tv and i watched a fight or two...and got kind of interested and watched again the next week...and so on..

if i didnt have HBO because it was free for a month then i wouldnt have probably ever converted into a hardcore boxing fan...so potential NEW fans have a hard time getting into the sport when not the best quality fighters are available to watch.

italian ur right on the spot. good explanation. but the thing is mayweather gave the boxing scene(not the site) a bad image. he talked so much crap saying this and that acting like a little kid who needs attention. hardcore fans or casual fans felt disgust with his action. he didn't kill boxing but he hurt it with his actions.

Boxing is alive and well!! Look at 2007 and this year so far...

I really doesnt matter about the mainstream, us hardcore fans are enjoying the fights and that is what its about, as long a the pure boxing fans are around the good fights will keep coming!!

My house mate claims to be a boxing fan but will only watch Hatton and Calzaghe and wont stay up for a PPV or watch anyone hes never heard off (oh by the way he had never heard of Wlad until last saturday) or watch any of the undercard, hes the kind of plastic fan we just dont want!!!

i dont disagree with the fact he acted like a 14 year old male strung out on hormones rather than the p4p champion of the world...and it did turn many fans off of him...

                    that 100% true...

but i dont think he alterned boxing SO MUCH to that extent that he ruined the sport.
