I've been watching a fair bit of Wilfred Benitez lately and it got me thinking about fighters with really strange primes. Obviously Benitez and B-Hop are two examples at opposite ends of the spectrum, who are some others with unconventional prime periods?

two more at opposite ends of the spectrum but same weight class.
naseem hamed and juan manuel marquez.
naseem's lifestyle outside the ring really hurt him.
marquez is better now than he was 5 years ago.Comment

Quality post, absolute gold, green k ur way...
incidentally, no ones springing to mind as I'm developing a strange obsession for the number 23. Infact I think I've scribbled it all over the walls. ****.Comment

Most fighters who are at the highest level as teenagers or young 20's burn out early. Benitez had poor discipline and drug problems. Tyson would be an obvious example. Lennox Lewis was someone who seemed to peak in his 30's. Nate Campbell might be someone doing it now.Comment

tyson, and i also think the calzaghe who dismantled lacy was his absolute prime, and he was a bit older than i would have though for his prime. imoComment

Best examples of this in recent years are Calzaghe (when was his prime anyway?) and Hopkins (apparently has been 'old' forever)
Tyson also is a good one, at his peak at 21 when most fighters are still just green, flawed prospects.Comment
