For a whole lot of reasons,,,,, but ultimately it would be a HUGE kick in the face of boxing....

In which, first a rematch would be in order for COTTO VS. MARGARITO.... for sometime in December or early next year......
    and if Cotto Wins..

Cotto would probably have to fight Margarito one more time to break the tie and to build his hype back up again after losing to a 5 lost Margarito.

    what about if margarito lose?

    what about if margarito lose?????????????????
and by that time it would be late into 2009....

if Cotto loses to this guy, he was a hype job and nothing more. Margarito is far from a great fighter and Williams just beat him pretty easily a year ago

I AM starting to see Some Cotto Fans on here Hyping Cotto up so bad that if he fails..He will have no room for the benefit of the doubt...Because SOME OF YOU GUYS insist that Cotto compares to Mayweather accomplishment wise
and some of you even say that Cotto is even greater than the greatest fighter of this generation.

          "Floyd Mayweather"

COTTO has serious flaws...I am warning you....Reconize what he is, instead of recognizing what he could be....

...if Cotto Loses to a 5 lose Margarito
(who lost to Daniel Santos and Paul Williams)

...And People start calling him Over-hyped fighter who only fought
          Unproven Contenders Like Gomez,
Past their Prime Old Fighters Mosley in which He barely Wins..
fighting non active fighters like Judah

and they discredit his whole resume....They are going to be some what justified because some of you have made it seem not like he is on the CUSP OF GREATNESS......(which he is)

but you have made it seem like HE IS ALREADY GREAT...even worst Some of You have even said that he is even greater than the greatest fighter of this generation
          "Floyd Mayweather..."

I am WARNING YOU....STOP OVER HYPING YOUR FIGHTER....
Because if it is going to hurt your feelings when Miguel Cotto turns into
          Fernando Vargas overnight
          ....IF HE LOSES TO MARGARITO....
First of all I'll start by saying that Floyd Mayweather is not the fighter of this generation, that is either Manny Paquiao or another that we still don't know who is since Mayweather started his career like a star but ended up like a coward. The only reason people consider Cotto overhyped is because of people trying to defend him since people all the time are trying to discredit his wins saying that he hasn't fought anybody. The thing is that Cotto is a champion fighting everyone that they put in front of him, not ducking anyone and looking to fight all the big names. I'm not saying that Cotto is already great since that is left up to the opinion of every single fan but people shouldn't discredit his wins because he has very good wins and if he continues to lead the career he has lead he could very well become the greates fighter of this generation.

if Cotto was as accomplished as Mayweather, he wouldn't have people "setting guys in front of him". He would be calling the shots.

Did I say that Cotto was as accomplished as Mayweather, if I did please point out where I did? Cotto is not as accomplished as Mayweather but that's no reason to dicredit him, I should add that Mayweather accomplishments were in the lighter divisions but really didn't do anything in welterweight, just like Cotto's bigger accomplishment's are at welterweight but although fighting good fighters at light welter the majority were not great competition since he was still an up an coming fighter. Which is the reason that if Cotto vs. Mayweather were made I would think Cotto would beat him since he has fought the best opposition at Welterweight whereas Mayweather has fought competition which is decent at best in the Welterweight division.

If Cotto loses there will be an immediate rematch. If he wins Hello De La Hoya.
If Tony loses he will ask and pray for a rematch with Williams or Cotto. If he wins Hello Williams or Cotto.
