I've Already Seen The Cotto/Margarito Fight

When I saw JuanMa Lopez against Ponce DeLeon, no Cotto most likely wont knock him out in the first round and may not knock him out, but it will be a fight between a slower wider punching hombre against a more disciplined, technical islander from Puerto Rico. Cotto has seen many "Margaritos" before, this will be the first time Margarito has seen Cotto or anything like him. Im only buying this fight just to see live what I've told everyone for years and what Bob Arum has known much longer than I have and that is that Margarito is a bill of goods sold to the untrained eye. The best thing he has going for him is that he starves himself to have an advantage at 147, otherwise at a higher weight this guy wouldnt see past an ESPN card, but that goes for many fighters who starve themselves, may sound like I hate Margarito but just speaking the truth.

I hate ppv boxing, its bad for the sport. It's already bad enough that the paid channels like hbo and showtime show the fights as is. It should be on free channels so everyone can see it.

I agree, if not that have one-two big PPV fights a year like they used to.

You could turn out to be right. I have tremendous respect for Cotto's talent. But I would put Margarito several levels above Ponce De Leon, who I thought had little chance against Juanma. Of course if Cotto does win like you predict there will be heated debate here about whether Cotto is really that good or if Margarito was just an overhyped clubfighter. I've seen enough of Margarito's fights to know it will take a hell of a fight to beat him and be very impressed if Cotto can dominate.

I'm not sure who Cotto has faced that has the same style and physique as Margarito.

It'll take a very good fight from Cotto to beat Margarito and I also think Margarito is much better than Ponce De Leon.

The only thing Margarito has going for him is he has strong punches, and a good chin. And strong punchers are a dime a dozen so cotto has seen them before, and margaritos chin wont matter when he is getting worked on the body just as much as his chin will get worked.

The closest opponent I can think of is Mohamed Abdulaev, who cotto had problems with facing in the amatuers and even was a tough sob when he fought him in the pros too but cotto stopped him late like in the 9th round abdulaev gave up. Except I think Abdulaev I think has a better defense then margarito in my opinion but Margarito has a better offense then Abdulaev. I think Abdulaev's best asset was his defense. But he pressures similar to Margarito. I don't know what happened to Abdulaev after his defeat from cotto other then he lost a ud to some other guy... Pretty shocking because he seemed like a pretty good boxer to just throw his career away.

He's not as big and strong as Margarito though and he didn't possess as good a chin or body attack.
