I think Haye is the most legitimate "heavyweight hope" to come along in a really long time. The previous two guys to be called the saviour of the division were Dominik Guinn and Sam Peter. Dominik Guinn I just look back and laugh, he got that hype from decisioning Duncan Dokiwari.
Sam Peter, as impressive as he looked when he was coming up, has always had the brains and charisma of a door. Someone like Sam Peter, is not going to bring the mainstream back to boxing. Also, for mainstream writers to accept a heavyweight champion, and I hate to say this, the champ has to have a good body for writers to accept him as a top athlete.
Chris Arreola, I just don't think he is all that good. He reminds me of a poor man's Sam Peter. He has really slow feet, I don't think he hits as hard as Peter, and he doesn't have good hand speed.
David Haye, already has big fight experience. I think he will be physically strong enough at heavyweight, given how much he starved himself to make cruiserweight. He has the looks, and he has the charisma. I could actually see him becoming the champ that boxing needs. I don't necessarily think it's gonna happen, but for the first time in a while, it is actually plausible.
