Calzaghe has proven that he is still a capable fighter at his age when he fought prime Kessler, Roy has not (unless you think the Trinidad fight was proof of him still being a top LHW).

It depends on the fighters.
This is true. Who is more shot, Glen Johnson or Fernando Vargas? Johnson is 10 years older but he has much more left in the tank.
Reed, I do love you, but I regard some of your threads in the same way I regard clag winnets up me arse - they tug at my **** pube hairs, irritate and have no real point.
This question depends on the individuals involved. While I'd say NO, the older fighter aren't the same thing, some people develop later. Was The Fat Jamoc a better fighter in his late 30s than he was in his 20s for example?
It also depends on the two individuals in question. As Glen Johnson famously said (after laying Roy the **** out for 15 light years) "I've still got me speed and ting, mon. If I've still got me lickle speed and me coconuts, how come de udder mon no have his, eeee? Where's me red stripe?"
