    ..CHAVEZ JR. Considering Retirement?...

After Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's controversial split decision win over Matt Vanda on Saturday night, Junior dropped the bombshell that he's considering hanging up hs gloves for good. "The people wanted me to score a knockout but I could not," Chavez Jr. told TV AZTECA. "The people are very, very un-content with the result (this as Julio Sr is being booed when trying to calm down the crowd) and what can I tell you? What can I tell you as a fighter? Everything is just very sad....because of the fight....I don't know what to do. I don't know what I will do. I need to think about it real hard. I am considering retirement."

Meanwhile, Julio Sr. lashed out at unruly fans who booed and threw things into the ring after the controversial decision was announced. "It's a group of drunks," said the Mexican legend. "I don't like excuses, but my son made a super human effort, he fought sick and wanted to cancel the fight. The doctor gave him a shot because he had a fever after the weigh-in," he said.

I guess the theme of this question revolves around disillusionment. Most people knew Chavez, Jr. wasn't his father- but he was riding the popularity and name up until this point. Struggling with very limited opposition is a bad sign- but it doesn't need to be the end. Can he improve? Can he learn from his flaws? More importantly...does he have the desire to fight, even if he isn't championship material? Some men box for a living because they love it. They have poor records, or are just too old to make a real splash, but still battle for a pay check and because they enjoy it. Is Chavez, Jr. only interested in being a superstar like his father? If he can't be, or there is doubt, is he willing to fight, anyway?

We'll have to see. The kid should get back in the ring again and see how he feels with his little ball of momentum having been burst. Does he really want to fight, or was he just using boxing as a means to fame and fortune?- because that might not happen.

I think maybe he should have a few more fights before deciding, maybe he should also find a new trainer because he takes too many unnecessary shots right now and it's making fights harder than they should be and I think he should just move up to middleweight, he's obviously having trouble making anything near 154.

The boy just isnt good, No ifs or buts the boy isnt up to the standard of what people expect of him, and the pressure of his father's name really did hurt his progess, He didnt have any amateur background which didnt help and now his fights gets put on PPV!!!

They have been helping this guy on for years now by giving him decisions that he doesnt deserve and he doesnt seem committed to boxing like he should with people reportedly seeing him in night clubs days before his fights, He would be KO soon if he doesnt change his ways.

its a bad sign when youre at home and your own fans throw beer bottles at you. come to think of it they boo'd him in the celaya fight.
he's had to pull tricks on the scales to make weight all the time which shows lack of committment. he has a rough time in vanda whos rated close to 200.
are his fans going to have to wait for him to have 50 fights before he fights someone rated closer to 100?
i think its a father son thing.
this kid should retire. or at least pay us to watch him.

thats great they boo'd his dad. theyre fed up with this circus act!

i had chavez winning this one.

I happen to think he could just have been drained. 160 seems like the right move.
