Lennox was in trouble but if the fight was to go on, I think Vitali would need surgery...Reconstructive that is...
I guess you need to rewatch, Vitali hurt Lewis numerous times and was ahead on the cards when the fight was stopped.
That's all that needs to be said.

Not only that, but Lewis worsened the cut by illegally using the laces of his gloves and rubbing them up against Vitali's face.

Your boxing knowledge and maturity level are in serious question at this point.

For the last damn time. I agree Lennox was in trouble. What don't you get. Are you illiterate? You're not a referee and so it's your boxing knowledge and maturity that should be really questioned. When a boxer is in danger like Vitali was his injuries are too much for him to go on, the referee must stop the fight. No ifs, ands or buts. The referee isn't going to risk a serious injury to Vitali's face by letting the fight go on. You honestly need to refocus on your boxing knowledge. You should know this stuff. I shouldn't have to tell you...And again, Lennox was in trouble but Vitali wasn't giving him "hell". He took it like the real champion he was...

I'm worried about the effect of the long period of inactivity, which is worse at Vitali's age, then if he had missed four years in his late 20s.

Prime Vitali would have no problem stopping Peter, but he's 37 and has had serious injuries. I'm predicting a Vitali win by KO, but I'm not completely confident of it.

...The original cut was caused by the laces as well. It was an unintentional scraping shot that saved Lennox Lewis's ass in that fight. If Big Vit never gets cut he blows big Len out very early.

If Vitali has anything left and his body holds up, he will beat Peter to a pulp. But those are big ifs.

This post has high school all over it.

Looks like hell to me, even the commentators made comments questioning whether Lewis was going to survive the round.

Just give Vitali credit for his preformance, he showed he could stand in the ring with one of the best heavyweight champions ever and not only win rounds, but hurt him as well.

You're a moron. Seriously. You don't know anything about Vitali or Lennox...What's your point, really. We're in a boxing forum, discuss boxing big boy, if you think you know so much...

True. Even in the 6th round Lewis had nothing left and was totally exhausted.
And there was a reason the crowd applauded Vitali after the fight and booed the stoppage, even if it was just.
There is also a reason one fighter wanted an immideate rematch and the other retired so he would not have to face him.

Its funny how you call me a moron and tell me to discuss boxing yet at the same time we are in the middle of a discussion about the Klitchsko v Lewis fight...

Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out who the moron is.

Again, it was strictly his choice and he chose the path he thought was better for him. He didn't see anyone as a threat. He gave Vitali a chance and Vitali didn't take it. Sure he gave Lennox a hard fight, but in the end it was Lewis who had his hand raised. A rematch was wanted but wasn't needed and that's the point of him retiring...
