I know the first guy who had that job. I'm a Philly native. The guy's name was Seamus, can't think of his last name. When I was a freshman at nova I invited him to speak on campus.

But c'mon Hopkins is from Germantown. He didn't have to survive anything he didn;t find himself. He's from a middle class neighborhood. Don't talk that **** to me. His 'street' ignorance is just an act.

Why didn't he get all this support from his fans in Philly for the Calzaghe fight? Would he definately be able to get a big turnout for a sort of farewell fight? Genuine question, just asking because here in the UK the media portrays him as having few fans due to his boring style.

        I'll take that

He could've packed a stadium in Philly a few years ago. Not likely now though. Maybe Boardwalk Hall.

actually, he moved to germantown after growing up initially in north philly in the projects, near strawberry mansion i believe- you know, the murder capital of philly. that **** is real and was even more real back when he was living there. thats where that mentality was born and he carried it with him to germantown, which has only recently gotten better and is certainly no chestnut hill yet.... (I'm from philly)

and you can be sure Woods would take it like a flash, it would certainly be his last chance of a big money fight...

I'm sure the fight would sell with the USA-GB and Hopkins vs another 'white boy'.

He was like 2 when he moved.

And Germantown was never gentrified. It's been middle class forever.

                Where are you from?

                I'm from Far Northeast.

Of course he'd take it. His other option is to go after the British title.

philly cats dont have money to fly to vegas. the pound is extra strong right now and makes it easier for brits to fly here.

at the same town, english and welsh fans are much more hardcore than american fans imo- at least on the grand scale. for instance, the mayweather fight seemed like it was in manchester there were so many manchunians there!

bernard's style (especially post-tito) has made it harder to gain fans since he is not a volume puncher or ko specialist. it takes a true fan of the sweet science to get and appreciate his style, especially since after Tito he didn't really produce the devestating breakdowns of fighters that used to end careers like the promising Joe Lipsey...

The Northeast and Cheltenham, which borders the Northeast and North Philly. My family now lives on Philmont off the blvd. I now live in NYC in Queens bordering BK....
