ALEX BUNEMA wins, TKO6 over WALTER MATHYSSE

Junior –middleweight Alex Bunema (#2WBA, #6WBC, #6IBF #7WBO) scored an impressive TKO victory over Walter Dario Matthysse at 3:00 of the 6th round. Three massive left hands, two hooks sandwiching an uppercut, finally put Matthyse down on the canvas along the ropes. Slowly rising, and hanging over the top rope, referee Michael Griffin took one look at the glassy-eyed fighter and called a stop to the bout. Matthysse (26-4 25KO) who has exhibited great power in the past with a near perfect knockout ratio simply couldn’t slow down Bunema (30-5-2 15KO) who had his man pinned on the ropes for three straight rounds including an exhilarating fourth where the Congo born fighter looked to be in danger of punching himself out. Matthysse managed his best work with Bunema coming straight in and remaining relatively stationary, but couldn’t do anything to back off the oncoming train.

Mathysse reminds me of a slightly better, much more powerful version of Jesse Feliciano.

Bunema still going strong. Really interested in what he does next.

Sounds like a thrilling, albiet onesided, fight. any footage of it???
