    Two Questions About Jones/Calzaghe...

1.) How can Arum say that if Jones wins, who gives a ****? That makes no sense. If Roy wins, that means he beat a top 5 P4P fighter at 39. That would be big for his legacy.

2.) If Roy Jones Jr. beat Calzaghe, would people just say Calzaghe was overrated? Or would Roy Jones receive credit from the boxing community?

    Thanks

It would mean Calzaghe is overrated. He's at his best right now (otherwise he would have fought these guys years ago), so if he were to lose to this version of Roy, it would absolutely cripple his legacy.

Look at it this way: Since Hopkins gave Calzaghe such a close fight at 43, nobody gives Calzaghe a chance in hell if they fought even two years ago. There is no way Calzaghe at his best is better than Hopkins at his best.

Calzaghe basically has to dominate Roy to get any credit whatsoever kinda how Roy dominated Tito. The difference is Roy and Tito are equally old/shot whatever you want to call it. They were going to fight at 170 back in 2001 so fighting now was probably a good indication of how it would have gone down in 01.

But Calzaghe is waaaaaaaaaaaaay fresher than Jones right now and absolutely fighting the best he probably can. If he can't beat Jones now, he flat out sucks.

He would get credit because Joe is a decent fighter. If Joe lost we would lose a lot of members.

Calzaghe is a great enough boxer that a win for Jones would convince the world over how great RJJ really is. Calzaghe would be wishing he took the fight with Pavlik and there is no way he would retire with that as his first and only Loss.

I think more people will give Jones credit than call Calzaghe overrated but there will always be those that will say Calzaghe was overrated.
