How can anyone say Pac is ducking Valero?!? It is clear that the Pacman will take on any challenger which is why Valero was mentioned in the first place, and it is why the bigger threat Soto has been thrown into the pot as well. To the silly people who believe this 'ducking' nonsense, please rejoice in the fact that if the Valero fight does not work out, you're boy Edwin can get seasoned against better opposition that will better prepare him for his inevitable beating that he will suffer from Pacquiao.
Soto would knock Valero out. Yes... you read correctly. Soto is a much more dangerous opponent. He has had some of the worst luck in terms of getting that big fight. I am a huge pac-fan, and I am actually way more concerned about this match-up than I would be about Valero, but I am proud of Manny for stepping to the plate to call out the real oft-ducked fighter, and happy for Soto that he will finally get his payday, as well.
Humberto beat Rocky Juarez's butt in what was supposed to be an eliminator to fight Barrera, yet MAB ducked the dangerous Soto to fight the perpetual under-achiever Juarez in one close win and one dominant win leaving Soto to find lesser opposition (ahem: Bobby Pacquiao- even his patented "blow blows" couldn't save him against Humberto!).
Then Soto takes on the other most avoided fighter lurking around 130-135, Joan Guzman. I was at that fight and gained even MORE respect for Soto than I had before, even in losing. Yes, Guzman outboxed him, but he was very uncomfortable in there and ran the clock out on the championship rounds- literally running around the ring in several instances. Soto relentlessly hunted down the squirrelly, yet bigger Guzman, who weighed in the night of the fight at a whopping 147 lbs- 17 lbs higher than he had weighed in at the previous day.
And of course, we all saw the overwhelming beats he put on Lorenzo and the ensuing travesty that occured with Joey C, which I don't even need to get into here...
So while all the top lightweights establish the pecking order for challengers to the man on top of the hill, let's enjoy a match-up that will put pac against one of the most dangerous, if under-appreciated, fighters in the sport....
