Bob Arum can no longer think of someone else as Pac's next opponent. There are plenty of big names at lightweight or even at 140 lbs, why Humberto Soto? Pacquiao fans will find this fight less interesting if this bout will happen...
Manny Pacquiao To Face Humberto Soto on November 15

Soto can't beat Valero if Valero were blind-folded. Don't you guys want to see Pac in with a fighter who might be able to beat him? You Pac fans just want to see Pac fight beatable guys to no end so you can prop him up as the greatest fighter ever lol. He is a fraud. Arum is a fraud. Why dont you guys stand up, look in the mirror, and ask yourself. Will Pac be one of the best ever with this resume? He will never be one of the best unless he starts with a Valero type victory.
this is getting to be scary.Comment

If Manny is a weak lightweight, Humberto Soto will be even weaker. Soto doesn't throw down all those nutritional supplements to bulk up and sharpen up, the guy is a perfect super featherweight. Bringin him up is gonna slow him down and take that sharpness out of his punches.
People are gonna say it's only 5 pounds, but that 5 pounds means alot depending on your body frame. Just take a look at Antillon compared to Soto. Urbano...an obvious lightweight, and honestly he's more then capable of blastin through Manny. lol I'd rather see that fight if we can't get Soto vs Paq below 135. But Soto, as thin and small as he is, that extra 5 pounds is only gonna slow him down and hold em back. He should definantly wise up and see how they're tryin to set him up.
Excuses already? Are you privy to Soto's camp?
Soto might be having trouble making weight at 130, he's at least an inch taller than Pacquiao, that's probably why he decided to go 5 pounds north, and that's where the money is anyways. It will not definitely be a walk in the park for Pacman as most of the posters here might think. Soto has a 5 inch reach advantage and he also packs a wallop on both hands...Comment

No offense mate, but that's a terribly written article for a prominent boxing writer. Bad grammar, nonsensical sentences and the mixing up of names? Not wanting to be overly pedantic or anything but.....
Anyway, sounds like a bit of a bull**** story from Arum. How long can it possibly take to get medical records reviewed? The fight isn't until November for crying out loud! They could have that stuff taken care within the week and yet "..due to the medical records not being reviewed.."? Give us a break! What a load of crap.
Soto is basically no different than Diaz. He is a slow, winging, hooking inside fighter. The fight would be no different than Pac vs Diaz. How pointless and disappointing a fight. At least with Valero there was a chance of fireworks. Soto would simply be out-sped and out-boxed. He was owned by Guzman recently enough so why not wait that extra few days and get the review sped up and then make that fight? God damn it! Sounds like Pac is going the Mayweather route in the latter half of his career just when he needs to be going all the good fights.
Blame on Bob Arum.
Remember when Morales lost to the Z-man and everybody except uncle Bob thought that the rematch between Pacman and Morales will be derailed? This fight makes cents errr, sense to Bob and Bob Arum only. It will not help Pacquiao in his quest for all-time greatness.
At least Soto will get his chance to get his well deserved payday, and he's a live underdog too...Comment

my pleasure friend. he sure has ko'ed a lot of nobodies and two past-their prime former greats. I'm glad that he's interested in fighting the #1 contender after avoiding it for two years when that spot was occupied by mr. witter. cheers!Last edited by mspiegelo; 07-11-2008, 06:17 PM.Comment

Kinda sad it took 14 pages to get to the point I'm about to make: Soto fought @ 140 less than a year ago against Gonzalez. Moving up in weight will not be an issue. Also, I'd like to point out that last year, before the Soto-Guzman fight, Roach was quoted as saying Soto was Manny's greatest threat. That's a fact. This fight is gonna be fireworks, and anyone who doesn't think so hasn't been paying attention.Comment

This would be a decent match for fight fans. We're going to see yet another explosive fight from the pacman. Sotto is a come forward guy and imo hits a bit harder then diaz w/ a decent chin. Well for manny it might not be a walk in the park considering how sotto annihilated his recent opponent but manny has improved a lot lately. We won't be seeing anymore a brawler-type manny but rather a more dynamic one. As for sotto this is his best chance to be the best and have a very good paycheck and a well deserving respect. I'd say though pac wins this one. Lets get it on.
