According to the source, Barrera was not too happy of the fact that he has not been given a fight since losing to Manny Pacquiao. Although no further details was mentioned by Barrera, he indicated that a press con may be called tomorrow announcing the break and the signing of the formal severance of his relationship with Golden Boy.
Barrera according to the information given to this writer also spoke to Manny Pacquiao via phone regarding the possibility of doing a co-promotion with the MP Promotions fitting Mexican boxers who are under Barrera’s promotion group and Filipino boxers.
Barrera wanted to do the co-promotion in the Philippines since he feels it will be easier to get Philippine visas than US visas for his fighters. Barrera apparently has many boxers from 108 to 126 lbs. Certainly, finding Filipinos boxers within those weight classes would not be too problematic for Pacquiao and his group.
Barrera requested an appointment to meet Pacquiao when the Pacman comes to Las Vegas in two weeks to finalize his fight with Edwin Valero and watch the Cotto-Margarito tiff. In that fight Pacquiao will also have an opportunity to see two of his protégés who are on the undercard, Bernabe Concepcion and Vernie Torres.
At Las Vegas, Barrera wanted to lay down the cards to Pacquiao and discuss the possible partnership to hold a Mexico vs. Philippines boxing card in the very near future.

Not long after Barrera lost his rematch with Pacquiao in October and announced his retirement, he said he wanted to fight again. Barrera, of course, is an all-time great fighter with championships in three divisions. But he's lost two in a row and is obviously no longer at the top of his game, or even close to it. So when Frank Warren offered Barrera and Golden Boy Promotions a $1.2 million package for Barrera to go to the United Kingdom for a shot at junior lightweight titlist Alex Arthur, it seemed like the perfect fight for Barrera to take if he was serious about a return. Yet, Barrera rejected it. That surprised me because where else is he going to get that kind of money for a fight these days, especially a title fight that has a legitimate chance to win?Comment

I can understand where he is coming from though, even though I am a fan of Alex Arthur he is not exactly a prestigious name is he?
MAB obviously feels that despite his 2 losses in a row he is deserving of fighting better names, not necessarily for more money though as Warren offered 1.2 million!Comment
