HBO's FALL Line up is suspenseful, but dont get me wrong. Is Mosley/Mayorga , Casamayor/Marquez, and Jones/Calzaghe really worth $50 ??? HBO doesn't seem to care about the quality of the fight, but they seem more wrapped around the bigger names, and possibly bigger number fights. The biggest example of this lately is with the Pacquiao/Diaz PPV. When I originally heard of the fight starting to get hyped by HBO Commentators during Diaz's non title fight on the undercard of the Pac/JMM II PPV. I remember sitting there thinking how Pacquiao would destroy this paper champion. I was finding it hard to believe that he was actually a Paper Champion, due to the fact he won a Majority Decision over Ramon Montano who had a record of 15 wins,4 losses,2 draws with 1 WIN coming by the way of knockout. How could HBO possibly even think of putting Pac vs Diaz on PPV?!?! This was HBO buying the fight just because Pac was in the fight, and the fight ended up doing horrible PPV sales. I wouldn't mind paying for the Jones/Calzaghe fight, but the other two fights are not PPV material, and I believe the network's ppv sales for these fights will suffer, once again due to the fact that they are simply trying to capitalize on a big name, and could care less if the fans are getting a good fight for their bucks. Showtime on the other hand seems to be putting on quality FREE cards. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in both network's futures.
