Who's fault was it that there was no rematch DLH/Trinidad

In one of the oddest things in recent boxing history this Mega-fight rematch was never made. Even though it was at time (IIRC) the largest grossing non-heavyweight bout. with over 1.1million buys.

There must of been something that kept there from being a Tito/DLH II. Was it Tito or DLH?

I would have to say Trinidad Sr, his demands were unreasonable.

      don king

king's goal was for trinidad to get belts at 154 , 160 and 168 before superfight with roy jones.

an ambitious plan , unfortunately bernard didn't cooperate.....

It was Mosley and Vargas......Mosley was able to break down Oscar over a full 12 rounds, something Tito wasn't able to accomplish....

And Fernando wouldnt keep his mouth shut up @ 154 soo Tito would move up and shut it up for him....Also, i really dont think that Tito enjoyed fighting that 147 I think he wanted to be able to come in a few pounds heavier....And no offense, that way he would be able to have somewhat of a break during training camp.....

Neither man really wanted this fight for a second time. We would have heard more about it otherwise. Neither guy wanted to disrupt the notion that the first fight was so close. If Oscar wanted and Trinidad didn't then Oscar would have bitched Trinidad out in the media and vice versa.

tito always demanded a higher cut since he "won" the first fight. and de la hoya felt that was just insane since he is the biggest draw in the world, so basically their egos prevented it.

the weight thing could have been resolved around the time Oscar fought B-Hop. Trinidad had not yet become a blown up punching bag incapable of fighting below 200 pounds, but unfortunately the aforementioned issue was still at play.

Trinidad's wanted 50-50 split and DLH didnt want to bend on the 70-30 split that he configured.... . some **** like that.

I mean how could DLH demand better than 50-50 for himself when he was going to be the challenger?

The Trinidads attempted to make fight offers several years after they fought, but no agreement could ever be accomplished.

DHL went as far as saying that he would put rocks in his pockets and fight him at 160. But Trinidad Sr. ego got in the way of better judgement. I bet his kicking himself right now for being so incredibly ******.

haha. i bet de la hoya could still school him at 154 even if tito came in at his preferred 180 or whatever. once again, he won't be able to find him, especially with all the excess baggage slowing him down....
