You have to give Taylor credit for his level of competition while he was champion.

I was just thinking the same thing. I don't rate Taylor very highly personally but he took on some tough fights.

Ohh i would totally agree with you that he came out swinging as the champ takin on great fighters and some good ones....We should also note that although i think it was a lil bit of a gift over Spinks...Remember that this is what spinks does, he makes ppl look very bad in the process outboxing them....And even with Ouma who was a very small challenger for Taylor, Ouma is still able to fight and fight solid, although his last 3 fights wouldn't explain this.

Taylor really took on th best fighters at the time, but again i think he got a false sense of security with some of these victories and some of the gifts he recieved.....

Exactly..since Taylor wonthe title you didn't see any Gary Lockett type fighters on there...Hopkins,Wright, Ouma, Spinks...names you can respect.

I agree with this topic. Pavlik needs to fight Winky Wright next. If JT can go from Bernard to Winky, then Pavlik can go to Winky to Abraham. He got his gimmie with lockett (which is understandable), but now he needs to fight someone worth a damn.
