Margarito To keep IBF title for cotto fight

I havent heard anything about ibf stripping margarito. And i just went on their website and he is still listed as their champion as of yesterday! So there should be two titles on the line july 26th! unless something dramatic happens in 2 1/2 weeks.

Don't know, Zab and clottey are still in line to fight for the vacant title so I guess we'll have to wait 'till the fight

Margarito was never being stripped, he is actually vacating the title. IBF rules allow unifications to take priority over mandatories, so he was never in danger of being stripped. Arum wanted him to vacate because he had already promised Clottey a title shot, so he essentially paid Margarito to vacate, so he could put Clottey in a fight for the vacant title......

I'm yet to hear of anything saying that magarito is being or has been stripped. Arum was in talks with ibf to let margarito keep it. I don't know how that went but he is still listed as their champion as of june 7th

from what i understood clottey was kermit's mandatory before kermit fough margarito. Ibf let kermit skip clottey to fight margarito and the winner was to fight clottey. Ibf threaten to strip margarito if he went on with the cotto fight and not clottey but arum was in talks with ibf about that. So i don't know i haven't heard of anything yet as of right now margarito is still the IBF champion.

Judah and Clottey are still supposed to fighting for the IBF strap so I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement by the IBF in the next 2 weeks about stripping Margarito.
