Floyd scared of De La Hoya

First off, I love Floyd. I think he is one of the most talented fighters of our generation. That being said. Oscar came to brawl in the first fight trying to capitalize on the popular misconception that body punches and a Cotto/Margaritoesque style pressure and aggression were the best way to beat PBF the way Castillo almost did the first time around. This played into PBF's hands and he was able to tire ODL out with his amazing defense (rivaled only by B-Hop) and seal the deal with embarrassing pot shots on an exhausted Oscar in the championship rounds. That being said. The fight was better than people give it credit for. Anyone expecting a knock-down drag-out war didn't know these fighters...

Oscar looked sharper against Stevie Forbes. He was on his toes and pumping the jab. in addition, he had Floyd's pops around to expose his sons holes. I kinda get the feeling that Floyd was scared of losing and realized that Oscars new boxing strategy was a formula more likely to work. Rather than risk an L and the burden of losing to his estranged father, Floyd bailed. If he fights Oscar, he wants it to be post-Cotto/Margarito so that Oscar is diminished (or likewise if it is Cotto or Margarito who prevails in the then beats Oscar) and he can just take the leftovers of the last man standing. What do y'all think?!?

I agree with most of what you said..
Except, Doode, it was Steve Forbes.. Forbes is a GOOD fighter. He really is, but he lacks power and weight to hang with oscar.. Oscar looked good b/c Forbes couldnt hurt him..

          Props to Forbes..

There is something fishy about Floyd retireing and missing out on another 20+million dollar payday..
I still think that Oscar would lose, but MAYBE Floyd is intiminated by the thought of a loss....

So he'll wait.. Let Cotto clean the division, then Whoop Cotto like you said..

I feel Mayweather just wanted to retire, he already beat De la hoya and in my opinion he was clearly a winner in that fight.

I still think Floyd would've won against Oscar in a rematch. Floyd just has his number. Oscar's always had trouble against speed fighters too (mainly Mosley). Though Oscar was bouncing around more than usual, he still was getting hit with clean shots by a much smaller Forbes (where the hell is he btw?).

I think if Cotto beats both Margarito & Oscar in impressive fashion, we got 2009 on the way, the end of a decade and can mean a huge Fight of the Decade with Cotto vs Floyd...finally!

              But obviously that's wishful thinking

I think most people just weren't that interested in seeing Mayweather/DLH II.

Just another hate thread. Why would he be scared of the guy who he already beat? Who the **** is Forbes? You can beat a million Forbes but will come short against the real p4p best.

I don't think he had much to be scared about honestly because even though DLH looked better than he has in a while against Forbes, he still didn't show enough to make me think he would have beaten Mayweather.

I think his retirement had to do with him being bored with boxing, his body breaking down and him not wanted Mayweather Sr. to get his big payday but I think he'll be back sooner or later.
