Juarez To Face Barrios, No Duddy Promise For Moore

Rocky Juarez was hoping to face WBA featherweight champ Chris John, but will now face the hard-punching former champion Jorge Barrios. The fight will take place on the undercard to Juan Diaz vs. Michael Katsidis at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. HBO will televise both fights live on their "Boxing After Dark" telecast on September 6. A press conference has been scheduled by Golden Boy Promotions to announce both fights. [details]

Juarez can't seem to make **** happen at 130. He'll lose to Barrios and be reduced to journeyman status, if he ain't already.

I'd like to see Juarez win, but the bottom line is that I agree with you.

Should be a hell of a fight, though I'd like to see Barrios win because he probably deserves another title shot after his close loss to Guzman for his jr. light title. If the Barrios of 2003-2006 shows up, Juarez is in trouble. But Barrios will be 32 when the fight takes place and will have only fought once in the past two years due to injury

I like the match up. I'll take Barrios. That fight with Freitas was a classic.

How is Barrios going to make 130? I know it's been a year and half since he last fought, but he was a pound and a half over against Guzman
