Cotto is a Boxer and Margarito is nothing more than an overhyped brawler...

Cotto wins by late round stoppage

They are the best to welters out there and there is no question that whoever wins this fight is the 1 welter out there.

I'd consider whoever wins to be the best welterweight.

Unfortunately Margarito isn't the #2 welter, so no. He may be better than old Mosley, but he isn't better than Paul Williams.

I'd like to see Williams get up to #2 and fight Cotto for the Ring title, but I imagine we'll see Cotto Mosley II instead.

This fight will definitely solidify Cotto as the #1 Welterweight in the World.

The obvious next fight would be Oscar vs Cotto in December to give Cotto his biggest payday.

After that I'd say have him fight Paul Williams, Berto, or Clottey. But if Paul Williams is really fighting Pavlik, that might be he last we see of Pitty Pat for a while

The rules are to have #1 fight #2 or #3 to get the RING title and to get the lineage Champion recognition. Boxing just rated Margo #2 in their 3rd quarter rankings.....

If Ring elects to rank marg #2 or #3 then it will be all good and it can be for the title, but I don't think they do.
