    The Demise of Michael Nunn

Seems that Left from Toney ended more than just his title reign. Never knew that he went to jail for trafficking Coke. Damn....

Its all in this depressing article on Nunn on Maxboxing...

I may write him. I'm sure he'd love to hear from fans that appreciated his beautiful boxing. If you wanna contact Michael write to:

Very sad, aye. Maybe I'm not thinking objectively, but 24 years sure seems a long time for the crime that was alleged. Or am I being naive?

As an aside, interesting to see Dundee, like alot of people, say Nunn was schooling Toney and was undone by one punch that got through. I personally thought James did a beautiful job in breaking him down- it was coming.

Michael Nunn, the one who fought Sumbu Kalambay, was unbeatable.

The left hand shot that dropped Kalambay was ten times stronger than the one that dropped Roy.

Just thought you'd like to know that.

Nunn really was a phenominal talent. Too bad he couldn't overcome the white stuff, the loss to Toney, and the impulsiveness/ignorance that comes with fame.

Perceived drug dealers are often made scapegoats for society's problems, especially in certain states. If he had committed an armed robbery or a felony assault his sentence would have likely been half as long.

Man I've seen everything from, "Toney was being taken to school for 9 rounds", to, "Toney was being shut out until he landed a desperation haymaker in the 11th". All of it is complete bull****. James was landing landing hard punches more and more regularly after the 6th/7th round. He really had the fight turned around at the 9th momentum-wise. He set Nunn up in the 11th with a sneaky little uppercut which propped Nunn up for that series of shots (the right and left) which all but ended his night. Nunn just didn't expect that type of attack from James that late in the fight.

One of the more underrated wins in boxing if you ask me. Nunn was still on top of boxing at that point, coming off a pretty dominating win over Donald Curry.
