Dawson doesn't plan on fighting Diaconu.

According to the New Haven website Chad Dawson has no intention of defending his WBC title against Adrian Diaconu in Romania. As you all know if Chad Dawson doesn't defend his belt against Diaconu he will be stripped of his WBC belt and Diaconu BECOMES THE NEW WBC LHW CHAMPION. Instead Dawson is trying to sign a deal with Antonio Tarver and Tarver's camp has said that he's ready to fight Dawson in October. Dawson has stated that he will only fight Diaconu in the U.S, not in Romania. I don't know too much about the politics of boxing, but can someone tell me about Gary Shaw? And why he only bidded 1.3mil compared to Gankor promotions 1.8mil? What do you guys think about this move by Dawson? Handing the WBC belt to Diaconu just to fight Tarver? I think Dawson is clearly ducking Diaconu and Dawson should be a man and go to Romania and defend his belt like a true champion should do. Of course this isn't official, just a rumor, and they may end up fighting after all. But their is a reason why this fight hasn't been finalized yet despite Diaconu's promoter winning the purse bid.

    - Contrary to ESPN reports, New Haven WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson has no intention of fighting a mandatory bout against Adrian Diaconu in Romania within the next 90 days. Diaconu's promoters won the bid to host the fight in his native country, but according to Dawson's manager, Mike Criscio, it makes no financial sense to fight in Romania.

There's a chance Dawson will fight Diaconu stateside, but Dawson will gladly relinquish his belt for a crack at Antonio Tarver. Dawson vs. Tarver has been an on again, off again saga for more than two years, but there's been indications out of the Tarver camp recently that he's ready to step in the ring with Dawson in October.

I dont think it's ducking. I think Dawson wants the big bucks and who can blame him? There's a lot more dough in fighting Tarver than Diaconu, and should Dawson get stripped so be it. He'll get the IBF version if he gets by Tarver and a fight with Diaconu in about a year would make a lot more financial sense from Dawsons viewpoint.

All that talk about ducking is somewhat tiresome. In the end the name of the game is money and career management. I cannot recall any blatant ducks having taken place in quite some time TBH.

Yeah Dawson vs Tarver does make sense. I blame Gary Shaw for this, he should of out bidded Gankor promotions. And why should Dawson fight in Romania, when he's clearly bigger the draw? Dawson should dump Gary Shaw ASAP.

Maybe Shaw dont think the fight is worth any more than 1.3 mill. And if he can land a Tarver-fight he'll have done a good job filling the pockets of his client.

He probably reckons that a Diaconu-fight has a bad risk/reward ratio in contrast with the Tarver fight.

Yea, if this fight can't happen then I definitely hope to see Dawson-Tarver. i wish Dawson had Mayweather Sr. in his corner though because he didn't look so hot in his last fight against Johnson. I thought he brawled way too much during that fight. He should have boxed more.

of course he should fight tarver if the opportunity presents itself rather than fight for no money in Romania. he's a professional and should take the fight that means more for his legacy and more for his family. plus he's been salivating for a tarver fight for 2 years!

the diaconu hype clowns are even worse than the guys proclaiming Margarito was the guy to beat Mayweather before paul williams dismissed him. if the diaconu-dawson fight comes about (and i accumulate more points) I'll take anyone's bet who sees Diaconu winning that...

and you're right about that. i had johnson winning that fight and was rooting for the old man. the only problem with a rematch is that Dawson would abandon the bravado and easily outbox johnson the second time around. he has learned his lesson and johnson only knows how to follow, not how to cut off the ring,

Diaconu fight is a more dangerous fight than a Tarver fight and Romania is the count of Drakula so Dawson should be afraid.

Dawson needs to give Glen his rematch already. But if he ain't doin that, the Tarver fight should be next for him.
