casual fans keep the sport alive.

how many buys would ppv get if only hardcore boxing fans bought the ppv?

how many casual fans bought delahoya-mayweather?

casual fans also don't know anything about watching a ppv fight on sopcast. how many "hardcore" boxing fans on here don't even buy the ppv and just goes watch it on sopcast?

let people say what they want about whatever figther they want. them talking about that fighter is a good thing whether they say bad things about him or not. no publicity is bad publicity.

Fans who prefer a brawl are not for that reason 'casual', and they don't necessarily understand less about boxing.

In general it's kids who have no fighting experience who tend to fall in love with 'pizazz'. The more knowledgeable fans on here tend to have a style-bias favoring agressive fighters.

        as far as styles go.

people have different preferences. a lot of guys like all out slugfests. some guys love technical shows of boxing.

if the guys buys ppv , subscribes to cable channels , buys tickets or watches the ads on tv fights , they are allowed to like the fighters they like and the styles they like.

if they consider a certain fighter boring that's on them.

            very true.

fans of certain boxers who are perceived to be quite boring tend to just assume (or accuse) anyone who doesn't like their certain favorite fighter's as "casual" fans who don't know about boxing and only wants brawls.

true boxing fans , like casual fans , just wants entertaining fights whether they be boxing matches or slugfests.

Or goes through the trouble of creating an account on a message board devoted to the sport . . . . .

Such people are no longer 'casual' almost by definition.

Yeah. The thread starter's idea is ******ed.
I started off as a casual fan who was just online search for clips of knockouts and I found this place.

'casual fans dont understand boxing'??? boxing is now essentially what it always was, two men fighting it out. alot of fighters like to keep the boxing basics simple, win lose or draw dont go down without a fight. whats not to understand, or am i showing my ignorance?

I should have explained what I meant really shouldnt have said casual fans but rather fans who criticize a "boxer", a fighter who uses defense, uses the ring and show skill in the ring. So many on here criticize guys like that, but that is what boxing is all about, so them calling themselves "boxing" fans is hypocrititcal. To me if all you like is slugging then boxing really isnt for you, because GOOD fighters dont go through the PAL, amateurs, and train like crazy only to show a lack of defense in the ring and ring smarts, just doesnt make any sense. I think this is why MMA is so popular, most of the fans can almost invision themselves being able to do what most of those guys do, since they are FIGHTING and almost everyone has had a fight, but BOXING is not FIGHTING, more psycological than that.
