HBO crew hating on the P4P king(s)

HBO crew hating on the P4P king(s)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it me or does it seem like the HBO crew: Jim Lampley, E Stewart, Larry Merchant, and Max Kellerman, seem like they all seem to over criticize whoever is number one or who is doing well? Some examples include...

    Floyd Mayweather
    Manny Pacquiao
    and RJJ

Their comments range from, "There isn't any competition in their weight class!" or "Their opponent is fringe or not elite." or my favorite is, "He is not taking any risk in the ring because he is not letting himself fight in the danger zone." or "He is back pedaling way too much!" (even if that fighter is beating the S##%! out of his opponent!!!

They can't give Pacman any credit without nut huggin JMMarquez...

They definitely discredited the resumes of RJJ and PBF!

My question is......WHY no Props for the best????

they're into making money and pressurising fighters into big fights

if they gave fighters credit for fighting bums they'd all think they were great and retire like Floyd

its business, they have to keep the big fights coming

Max Kellerman does that to certain fighters: Pavlik, Wlad, and Calzaghe. He just doesn't like white boxers. Others in the media (Dan Wetzel, Jason Abelson, Ted Atlas, Al Bernstein and Wally Matthews) are unfairly negative about European fighters.

But they have had nothing but praise for Floyd Mayweather Jr - in fact, make him out to be better than he is. Jason Abelson wrote "Floyd Mayweather is EASILY the best fighter of the past 25 years", better than Leonard, Hagler, Duran and Hearns.

the worst example was Mayweather-Baldomir, prefight everyone especially Manny Steward talks about how this is Floyds first real test of his career, in against a true welterweight and much bigger man, etc. Then as the fight goes on and Floyds easily ahead, he starts discrediting him for saying he's elite and says he wants him to face a real welterweight like Kermit Cintron...

Max Kellerman gives Mayweather too much credit, and Lampley & Merchant love Pacquiao. So I don't see what the thread starter is talking about.

I haven't heard much criticism of pacquiao to tell you the truth. and they are not nuthugging JMM just cuz they give him compliments. nuthugging is a word used too often, many times at the wrong time. JMM fought a great fight and I believe that the 2nd fight was a draw if anything but pacman has received more credit and very little if any criticism from the hbo announcers.

Mayweather is just a very defensive fighter and I am sure the announcers do appreciate his defensive genius but I think they love the sport of boxing more and know that mayweather's style isn't gonna attract fans so they criticize it in the hopes that he'll change his style or that future young aspiring fighters don't try to emulate mayweather's style.
