Glad to hear David Diaz is okay!

Here's David Diaz own blog after the fight:

Diaz Diary: Thanks for your support, and go Cubs!

    July 1, 2008

    BY DAVID DIAZ

Editor's note: This is the final installment of David Diaz's diary that he wrote exclusively for suntimes.com as he prepared for his June 28 defense of his World Boxing Council lightweight title against Manny Pacquiao. Diaz lost by a ninth-round TKO, but he gained fans and respect from Pacquiao for the courageous way he battled through nasty cuts and took Pacquiao's best shots. Pacquiao said Diaz hurt him at one point. The Sun-Times was proud of the way Diaz battled and thankful for sharing his thoughts through this diary.

We returned home from Las Vegas on Monday night around 8 p.m. It's nice to be home and great to spend some time with my boys and my wife.

When we got back to the house last night, there were a lot of people on my block to welcome me home which was real touching. I know everyone where I live and it was nice of them to show their support even though I lost the fight.

The key to the fight was Manny's speed. Not just his hand speed but his ability to avoid getting hit. When I was able to tag him, he did a nice job of making sure that he moved out of the way of a second punch from me. He and Freddie Roach put together a nice game plan and stuck to it.

I have to tip my hat to Manny, he may very well be the best fighter in the world as many say.

As for me, my cut took six stitches. The rest are just bruises which will heal. No broken bones or anything like that. After the fight they took me to the hospital in Las Vegas for the stitches and to run a couple of tests as a precaution.

I spent Sunday in Las Vegas just taking it easy with some friends and family who had come out for the fight.

I'm going to take a little time off and relax with the family for the rest of the summer. With two fights this year, I've been training pretty much the whole year and it will be nice to relax. There are some other major fights taking place in the lightweight division in September and we'll see what happens.

I'd like to thank all of you for reading this blog and for all of your support. It seemed like the whole city was behind me in this fight and it was greatly appreciated. Whether you saw fight live in Las Vegas or ordered the PPV, many thanks for your support. It truly meant a great deal to me.

Have a great summer and GO CUBS!!!
