Did Bernard Hopkins fight more open in 2001 than 2008?

I would say so. It sure seems like he threw more punches in his previous fighting years. He's always been more of an analytical fighter rather than a whirlwind type in my opinion. Always studying his opponent and subtley sneaking shots in. Not that I know much about that sort of thing. Purely a fan here...not a critic or boxer.Comment

By more "open" do you mean more likely to get hit? I get a feeling your making this post to suggest that Calzaghe would have done better back then since Hopkins would have been more "open" by getting members to say "yes".
Don't get letting your hands go and being careless defensively confused. So to answer your question, Calzaghe would have done poorly offensively back then as he did against a 43 year old but Hopkins would have landed even more punches in 2001.Comment
