and did you know that if it wasn't for the spaniards, kali, escrima and arnis de mano would not be the same as it is today. the spaniards taught the filipinos many things about stick fighting which resembled fencing and european sword fighting.

so filipino martial arts is not totally a filipino invention. but i will agree that it can be very effective.

I never said we were tall, I merely pointed out that you people were short as well... Ummm, is it me or did I see any Mexicans dominating above welter weight division???? Please dont tell me Margarito because as every unbiased person knows, that cat is a bum.... So please dont try to make people think that 95% of your boxers arent under the jr. welter division... Besides, you people keep yapping how of a dominant force you are in boxing, how could you run boxing when your people are virtually non existant middle weight and up???

Lets talk boxing economics since I didnt get to respond to your last post... Mexico has benefited TREMENDOUSLY by sharing a border with the richest country in the world, that is not even debatable... Not only that, WBC is based in Mexico and its reigning presidente Jose Sulaiman is in fact Mexican... And, I dont have to tell you that Las Vegas as well as major boxing venues are located in predominantly or at least an area with a significant Mexican population. Therefore it would not be a stretch to assume Mexican fighters are not only given MORE opportunities but are targeted by trainers, promoters, matchmakers, and businessmen because obviously there is a demand.

Now, you add into the mix that there are an endless source of poor Mexicanos having dreams of gold and riches, its pretty easy to decipher that many choose the fight game as a means for a better life. Its not that Mexicans make the best fighters, but rather, Mexico produces the most fighters per capita... There is a stark difference... For every Mexican "champion" there are thousands that fall into the dark abyss of obscurity.. The working equation for Mexican boxing is: opportunity+demand+endless resources of fighters= dominance in terms of producing champions... One variable effects the other and consequently indirectly influences the bottom line..

Lets go to the Philippines. Up until Pac, Filipino fighters neither had opportunity nor was there a demand. Its not that there were no Filipino fighters, its that noone outside PI paid them no mind. Major promoters and trainers invest a ton of money for a fighter and up until PAC, noone would venture THOUSANDS of miles away to cultivate working relationships with people they had no clue about. For example, PAC had to come all the way to AMERICA and find a promoter and a trainer... He was lucky enough to have had financial backers in the Philippines that funded his trip. He would be virtually unknown right now if he didnt have financial support... Its not like Filipino fighters can waltz across the AMERICAN BOARDER and start their career...

But, things are different now... ARUM, GOLDEN BOY, and various other promoters have their sights on the Philippines. As a matter of fact, after PAC's emergence, there have been 3 or 4 belts gained by Filipinos (Condes, Nietes, Penalosa,Donaire). And, if Im correct, they all train at ALA gym in Cebu City, PI, the same gym that featured the Filipino fighters in that Mexico vs PI world cup... Not only that, most if not all of these fighters are Visayan... Meaning, these fighters represent only a region of the Philippines, and not a cross section... Now, if only ONE GYM in all of Philippines has made this large of an impact, just ****ing imagine once fighters from all over the Philippines starts to get the same opportunities..

You say 38-17 Mexico? Im really surprised at that number. Given all the opportunities and demand Mexican fighters have enjoyed for so many years, I thought that number should be much much more lopsided... But, unfortunately, for Mexican fighters, the tiger that is Philippines boxing is out the bag, and I am definite that that number will be much different say 10 years from now... Im not going to say it'll be even, but it sure will reflect reality and pop the bubble of your self professed national supremecy in boxing...
