From the opening bell Laila is just too much of a technician for Joe. She hits him from every angle possible turning Joe's face into a bloody mess early in the first round. Calzaghe bravely fights back but in the end he simply has no answer to the relentless attack of Ali. Late in the first round Joe is hit with a crushing left hook that sends him through the ropes. In a tragic turn of events, Joe's fall is cushioned when he lands on his father, crushing the wee man instantly.
