I said it reeks of ignorance. Why? Because it is untrue. If you polled 100 expert boxing analysts, writers, and historians, not a one would agree with your assumption that Calzaghe "made Bernard his *****". Why? Because it didn't happen.

Hopkins put Joe on his ass, Hopkins landed the cleaner and more effective shots. Joe just threw a boatload of punches, that's why he won. He threw, Bernard didn't. There was no "*****" in that fight on either side.

I think there is some truth to what pesticid is saying, but he exaggerates a little. I'm sure you've seen the fight plenty of times, but if you watch again you will see that all the aggression is coming from Calzaghe. It is actually quite ridiculous at times the way he is just constantly, constantly going after Bernard and trying to punch him in the head. Nobody, ever, not even Jones has been able to treat Hopkins with that much disrespect.

The sheep part of the statement is a little misleading though, because for all that Calzaghe was agressive, Hopkins was able, for the most part to make it pretty ineffective, frustrating Joe at every turn and preventing him from looking good. This was another first, because nobody, ever, has been able to make Calzaghe ineffective, but Bernard did. So I'd say that Calzaghe fought like a wolf, but was made to look like a sheep, whereas Bernard may have seemed like a sheep but there was the bite of a wolf behind everything he did.

I agree with pretty much all of that. Except the "treating Bernard with disrespect" part, by going after him constantly and trying to "punch him in the head". I don't view that as disrespect, I view that as normal behavior when in a fight.
