Yeah, but Floyd's never taken as much punishment in a fight as Roy did in Tarver 1.

How could anyone be shocked to see RJJ get knocked out? For it to be a shock you would have to believe it was an unlikely occurence.

cotto won't be able to KO mayweather... not with one punch like Tarver did to RJJ

The Roy Jones ko was shocking not only because he was ko'd but the way it was done, a true one punch ko. I can't see Cotto landing a shot like that on Mayweather. If Cotto was to ko Mayweather it would be because he systematically broke him down or ko's him with a body shot.

            LOL @ this *****...

Just like Floyd today, Jones was regarded as the #1 fighter who was untouchable for years. So when he got floored the 1st time everyone was like

So if it were to happen to Floyd a year or 2 down the road it would be just as big.

It was also shocking because nobody saw it coming, cotto is a guy regarded as a true threat that is bigger than him and can make him work etc. Tarver was seen as a worthy challanger, and their first fight was close, but nothing like what we saw that evening in 2004. I will never forget it, to this day i cant look at that knockout.

You're right. Along with the "you got any excuses tonight" line, nobody saw it coming. I'm the opposite as far as watching the ko, I can watch it over and over.

Really! You weren't the least bit shocked, I'm surprised!?! I'd like to hear more about your circumstances surrounding the fight, were you watching boxing back then(hardcore/casual), did you watch it live, did you predict it would happen.

From what I recall the crowd at the arena went bananas, so did the commentators. Everybody I saw it with was shocked as well. I even had a few non boxing fans calling me to tell me if I'd heard what happened.

Neither, both are mortal men like the rest of the bunch and all it takes is one punch as has been proven throughout history.

It's difficult comparing something I haven't seen to something I've already seen.
