Last night's fight between Pacman and Diaz was exciting, even if the fight was one sided but you have to give credit to Diaz for not quitting. He gave his all and even after landing on his face after he endured over 200 punches, mostly to his head, he said it him self after the fight, "The ****er was to fast." Same thought I had while watching Pacman beat the leaving **** outta him.
But the one thing that keeps eating away at me, and is what ruined a bit of the night for me, is what Joe Cortez did in the co-feature between Soto and Lorenzo. Cortez has lost it. I use to think he was a great ref but recently he seems lost and not sure of what to do out there. What irritates me is how he breaks up the fighters while they're punching at each other in the inside or he breaks them up while one fighter is throwing punches at the other and Cortez jumps in for no appearent reason and breaks them up. WHAT THE ****!! He did that last night while Soto was hitting Lorenzo trying to end it after he knocked him down the first time. Cortez jumps in like 3 times in between them while Soto is working and he seems as if he's not sure of what he wants to do. And then he robs Soto of his win. In the Mayweather/Hatton fight he did the same. He didn't let Hatton work inside because Cortez kept breaking them up when they weren't even holding. I'm not saying that Hatton would have won if Cortez let him work inside, but he'd could have gotten more punches on Mayweather. Anyways, Cortez needs to be retired and not be regarded as the best ref out there anymore. Lorenzo was acting, and Cortez bought it. His face did look pretty gruesome, especially on HD!! Any thoughts on Cortez?
