    I think it's funny that about a minute before the knockdown happened the announcers were talking about how Cortez is a good ref, but he should be taking a point from Lorenzo for head butts.

    I didn't watch the PPV and was skeptical that the DQ was THAT controversial, but I have to agree. Cortez made a very bad call there.

      I guess in a way he followed the rules. The punch was after he went down.

      But the punch was academic. The fight was decided at that point. Maybe one could say that common sense was missing.

        Yeah but punches land after the guy goes down all the time. Like you said, the referee needs to use his own common sense. I don't really care because Soto probably would have fought Pacquiao next if he'd won and I REALLY DON'T want to see that fight on PPV just like I wasn't going to pay $50 for this one-sided beatdown. So, in a way, it's a good thing that Cortez has become so senile.
