Well generally speaking, in my experience only, Mexican fight fans don't count American born Mexicans as "true" Mexicans. This is why Mexican fans hated Oscar De La Hoya for so long. Being that Diaz is not only American, but also only half Mexican, I doubt many of them cared about him in the first place.

The few Mexican fans who did want to see him win, only did so because they wanted to see Manny lose. But now that Manny won, I doubt you'll hear much from them.

I think Mexican fans give him more credibility because he was taken back to Mexico to be raised. Had he been raised in America I doubt he'd have that following.

If you are born in the states, forget about being accepted as one of Mexico's own.
No matter what u do, u will always be viewed as a faux mexican and if u speak only English, that even worse.

The funny thing about all this is ,that people that are recent arrivals **** on US born mexicans and call them names and call them out for accented spanish. Then, they have kids here, so i guess they have to **** on their own children, thats how absurd and sad it all is.

Not me, I'm Irish/German, I like everybody, lol. I'm just saying, that in my own personal experience, American born Mexicans are never viewed as "real Mexicans" by Mexican born Mexicans.
