they both are hof who had great defense/whitaker was more likely to engage where mayweather was safety first which argubaly makes him a smarter fighter but also makes whitaker a more exciting fighter.mayweather seemed to have more power but threw less punches all in all the both are great fighters so why the arguement we'll never know 2 differant eras

Pernell was more of a saftey first fighter, he would use his defense and showboating to win rounds.
Floyd has turned into more of a saftey first fighter, but at 130 and 135 he was more likely to engage and let his hands go.

Take away the Baldomir and De La Hoya fights, and Floyd shows more offense than fans will be able to grasp.
