As reported a few days ago, the team of Felix Trinidad was approached by Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, to discuss a possible rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. Trinidad won a controversial twelve-round decision over De La Hoya in 1999. Promoter Don King plans to put pressure on Schaefer to make the fight. The fight, if it ever takes place, would happen December 6 on HBO pay-per-view, a date reserved by the network for De La Hoya's return. [details]

No way, this fight has been spoken of since 2000 and has never materialized. Oscar wouldn't do 50/50 for starters and there is the weight difference.
If think DLH should just fight Cotto if he wins.

Boxing isn't always about legacy, it's about entertainment. Even though these guys are not in their prime, I think it would be an entertaining fight.
Just like Leonard vs Hagler was, way past their prime but a very entertaining fight.

The rematch should've happened immediately.
9 years later with Oscar at 154 & Trinidad balancing between 168-175 = Fight ain't happening.
Cotto vs Oscar makes the most sense for Oscar to go out big and to catapult Cotto to mainstream. It's a quintessential "Old Lion vs Young Lion" passing the torch type of fight. They could market the hell out of that.

DLH wasn't effective at 160 4 yrs ago. Tryin it now wouldn't be any better. Felix ain't got much left either. He fought okay against Roy but even at that he woulda got KO'd if Roy had it in him to finish the job. This fight won't happen.
