Following Universum boxer Ruslan Chagaev's latest withdrawal from the heavyweight championship, Team Sauerland are now seeking a title fight for Nikolai Valuev, the mandatory challenger, against a different opponent in the near future. "First of all we would personally like to wish Ruslan Chagaev all the best and a quick recovery," said Meyer in Berlin today. I know Valuev will never be anything more then what he is now, he simply doesnt punch as hard as he should for his size. Another Ruiz fight would be boring. Ruiz one the forst fight I think or atleast it should have been a draw. Valuev should be knocking fools like that out

So I guess Valuev is not fighting anybody for sure on July 5th, right?
What will happen is the WBA will sanction an interim title fight for Valuev, the same way the WBC did for Peter.
It is not true Chagaev has exceeded his one year deadline time to defend his title against the mandatory. Valuev got this right after his win against Liakhovich on February, which means Chagaev will have till February 09 to make the fight.
